Asma Al Husna
Names of Allah In Islam
Asmaa al-Husna is a solo project designed as a personal and spiritual artifact to help people connect emotionally and intellectually with the 99 Names of Allah through a tactile, visual experience. Created for my advanced projects class, the goal was to introduce Allah’s divine attributes in a way that felt sincere, reflective, and accessible—especially for those unfamiliar with Islamic teachings. My approach evolved from an initial plan for a fluid 3D form to a more structured design using digitally vectorized Kufic-style lettering, laser-cut from pine wood, and arranged into boxed collections. Each box contains six names grouped by theme—such as creation, majesty, or sustenance—alongside small additions like prayer beads and printed reflections to promote Qur’anic remembrance and personal contemplation. Color theory, typographic geometry, and material choice were all carefully considered to reflect the seriousness and emotional tone of each attribute set. Completed over four weeks (three for design, one for fabrication), this project became a deeply meaningful effort to bridge faith, design, and spiritual learning through handcrafted form.
