Illusive is a solo surrealist magazine that explores how the Surrealism movement has evolved across different time periods—past, present, and speculative futures—through art, emotion, and technology. My approach was rooted in examining artists and mediums as a timeline of human expression, focusing on how each generation adapts visual language to convey internal states. The magazine places strong emphasis on aesthetic feel, using minimal text, immersive layouts, and distorted typography to guide the reader’s emotional journey. The publication’s asymmetric format, muted color schemes, and manipulated type mirror the complexity and fragmented nature of the surrealist message. As a companion concept, I also developed a design intervention app that enhances transparency for Arabic-speaking or Muslim consumers, using barcode scanning and sticker-based tagging to help identify product permissibility and ingredients—emphasizing visual clarity in complex environments. Completed over the course of three months and finalized within five weeks, Illusive spans 160 pages at a 12x18 inch spread size, representing a personal turning point in how I blend historical themes with modern design strategies.
